As the daughter of a building designer and the cousin of a builder, Bella’s early exposure to the craft sparked a deep curiosity for the intricacies of how buildings come to life. She made the bold decision to forgo her fine arts degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, opting instead to embark on a carpentry apprenticeship in 2017. She began her hands-on experience in Canberra, where a diverse range of projects—from minor renovations to high-end bespoke homes—shaped her skillset. The city’s commitment to high-performance construction and its emphasis on sustainability created an environment that was enlightening and inspiring. Instilling Bella’s profound respect for the intersection of craftsmanship and ecological responsibility, which would go on to define her career trajectory.
In 2022, Bella relocated to Queensland to work in the high-end residential sector. Falling pregnant soon after, she transitioned from an onsite carpentry role into construction estimating, marking a pivotal shift in her career. A strategic decision that allowed her to balance her growing family commitments while continuing to pursue her passion for the industry. This new direction wasn’t just a practical solution; it also enabled Bella to blend her love for design and architecture with a more analytical and innovative approach.
